Itchy feet

So one day a month or so ago the Flying Fish looked at me and said quite unequivocally, "You need a vacation." He was right. And more than a vacation, I needed an adventure. So the long and short of it is, I packed up my bike and my tent and went to Scotland for a week and a bit.

Getting to Inverness was epic. More so than I care to relate. But once I finally arrived things took a turn for the better and I ended up having a fantastic adventure. I didn't know from one day to the next where I would go or what I would see and as a result my week was full of delightful surprises.

In all I pedalled nearly 200 miles, rode up and over the highest pass in Scotland, chased a sheep up a one-lane road on the side of a bluff, and walked a ridge overlooking some of the most beautiful mountains I've seen. And the food was wonderful, as was the ale and the whiskey.
