just a thought

If I won the lottery, I'd buy a Honda Hybrid Civic and fill up the back seat with bumper stickers saying "Nevermind the planet, Check out my ride!"
Then I'd go on a 6-month road trip to all the great suburbs of America and smack one of those on the back of every Hummer, Navigator, and Escalade I see. And that's just for starters.

Of course, first I'd have to play the lottery...

Itchy feet

So one day a month or so ago the Flying Fish looked at me and said quite unequivocally, "You need a vacation." He was right. And more than a vacation, I needed an adventure. So the long and short of it is, I packed up my bike and my tent and went to Scotland for a week and a bit.

Getting to Inverness was epic. More so than I care to relate. But once I finally arrived things took a turn for the better and I ended up having a fantastic adventure. I didn't know from one day to the next where I would go or what I would see and as a result my week was full of delightful surprises.

In all I pedalled nearly 200 miles, rode up and over the highest pass in Scotland, chased a sheep up a one-lane road on the side of a bluff, and walked a ridge overlooking some of the most beautiful mountains I've seen. And the food was wonderful, as was the ale and the whiskey.

So here's me, on top of the world on Bienn Damh with Beinn Alligin behind:

And my trusty bicycle, resting a moment along the Beauly Firth:
